Male Infertility
Many couples struggling trying to make a child ...
When considered poor sperm quality?
Serious problems with sperm associated with sperm count, morphology and motility. Problem occurs when the sperm semen analysis demonstrated that sperm counts are down 5-6 million (normalized to the semen analysis is more than 20 million), the mobility of sperm is less than 20-30% or morphology are not smoother.
What is the procedure usually followed when there are problems with the sperm?
When there is low motility sperm, only sperm or abnormal sperm morphology, ICSI usually do. Take, say, a sperm and inject into the egg.
In what cases resorting to a pair of sperm donation?
Even if azoospermia is not necessary to resort to IVF borrowed sperm. In cases where either no ejaculation or not we find no sperm in the ejaculate, we get a testicular biopsy testicular tissue, grow and try to isolate some immature sperm. If there is even little mobility, we move to the technique of ICSI.
If the testicular biopsy did not find any live sperm, if consent and two companions, we can get sperm from a bank. Usually we use sperm banks abroad from where the sperm is tested for various diseases.
Comparatively, very few couples who resort to this solution, because ICSI (ICSI) has us solve our hands. The last ten years the ICSI method has very high success rates. So achieving pregnancy depends not so much sperm, even when it is low quality, as the woman's age and the quality of the egg.
Can improve sperm quality in varicocele surgery?
When there is a problem of male infertility does not necessarily mean that we need to do some surgery. After a varicocele surgery semen quality can be improved a little (or not improving at all). In any case, the gonimopoiitiki capacity remains the same! So this should be consulted a urologist / gynecologist Andrology and an infertility specialist before any surgery –restoration of male fertility.
