Study omega-3 fatty acids in Woman

Young women who eat oily fish regularly, run by ... 90% less likely to develop later in life, myocardial infarction or stroke.
This is the stunning conclusion of a new study which suggests that omega-3 fatty acids in fish like salmon, mackerel and sardines, can do wonders for the future health of women of reproductive age, improving blood pressure and function of the heart and blood vessels them.
The study involved 49,000 girls and women ages 15 to 49, from Denmark.
Researchers from the Institute StatensSerum, in Copenhagen, attended the course of their health for eight years, recording their dietary habits, lifestyle and family history.
During the study, 577 volunteers had heart attacks or stroke, and five eventually died because of them.
As shown by the data analysis, these serious cardiovascular events were 90% more in the volunteers who ate fish only rarely to never, compared with those in volunteers who ate at least a portion of fish every week.
"These findings suggest that for young women, fish consumption is very important," said lead researcher Dr. M. Stromi. He added: "To our knowledge, our study is the first to focus exclusively on women of childbearing age."
Dr. Stromi and his colleagues hope their study, published in the journal «Hypertension» issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), encourages young women to start eating more fish.
The official recommendations for a healthy diet including at least two servings of fish a week.
Although women are largely protected from cardiovascular events due to the female sex hormone, estrogen after menopause are at risk as well as males - and are at higher risk of dying from them than what the men.
In fact, heart attack and stroke each year costing the lives of many more women than what breast cancer, but unfortunately most women are unaware of this risk.
