Super Broccoli:Heart drug

British scientists have developed a new type of broccoli that contains increased amounts of the nutrient glykorafanin which among other things connected with the protection of the heart.
Specialists of the Institute for Nutritional Research in Norwich have created a broccoli contains 2-3 times higher levels of glykorafanin. The substance dissolves fat in live organisms blocking the forming of the so called blood clots in the arteries, a key factor causing cardiovascular events.
"It is accepted that vegetables are the pharmacy of nature.Consumption of broccoli that lowers blood cholesterol, "says R. Mitchen, led the research team who worked for years for the development of super broccoli.

The researchers wanted to create a new variety rather than genetic changes, but with natural methods. After many experiments failed to generate the broccoli like crossing a common variety of broccoli grown in the UK with a variety of wild broccoli with a bitter taste of Sicily has increased quantities glykorafanin.
The super broccoli sold for some time at selected stores in two states in the U.S. under the name Beneforte. From November to begin selling it in Britain and by December will be available throughout the United States.
The super broccoli belongs to a new product category in which "implanted" extra quantities of nutrients. Among them are oranges with more calcium, milk with omega-3 fatty acids, mushrooms with elevated levels of vitamin D, tomatoes and potatoes selenium etc.
